A playful intervention at C-mine
How can we foster more social interaction at the C-Mine square? This was the central question we explored with the Product Design students of Luca School of Arts. Our approach involved a temporary intervention with the iconic red chairs, aiming to redefine their role in shaping social dynamics in the space.
In this masterclass we started with a design exercise in which theu investigate how students and other users of the C-mine square would like to use this space. We coached them to translate their ideas into modular, functional designs that can be easily built, broken down and moved. We work with sustainable materials (recycled plastic of Ecoo), connection techniques and design principles of TransFormMaker and Constructlab, which provides insight into circular and social design.
Throughout the masterclass, students gained hands-on experience in circular design, collaborative building, and teamwork. The creative process was complemented by practical workshops, where participants worked together to bring their designs to life. The final day culminated in a celebratory inauguration at C-Mine square, showcasing the creations in action and allowing visitors to interact with the new installations..
